Maxim Integrated MAX6303CPA+ Microprocessor Supervisory Circuit

The MAX6303CPA+ from Maxim Integrated is a highly reliable microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed to monitor power supplies and microprocessor activity in digital systems. It provides excellent circuit reliability and low cost by eliminating external components and adjustments when used in system monitoring applications.

This device is particularly adept at managing power supply and system health, ensuring that your microprocessor is operating under optimal conditions. It features a precision voltage monitor with a 4.65V threshold, which is crucial for detecting under-voltage conditions on the power supply to your microprocessor or other critical system voltages. In the event of a voltage drop below this threshold, the MAX6303CPA+ asserts a reset signal to the microprocessor to prevent code execution errors.

The reset output is guaranteed to remain in the active condition for a minimum of 140ms after VCC has risen above the reset threshold level, providing ample time for the system to stabilize upon power-up or during a brownout condition. This feature is essential for preventing system errors and data corruption during transient conditions.

Another key feature of the MAX6303CPA+ is its debounced manual reset input. This allows for a manual reset of the microprocessor, which can be used during system maintenance or troubleshooting, ensuring a reliable system restart without the need for cycling the power.

Additionally, the MAX6303CPA+ offers a watchdog timer that forces the reset pin to go active if the microprocessor does not provide a watchdog strobe within a preset timeout period.
