The DS3930E+ from Maxim Integrated is an advanced octal nonvolatile (NV) variable digital potentiometer designed to offer precise and reliable digital control over resistance settings. This versatile device is an ideal solution for applications requiring adjustable resistance such as tuning and calibration in automated systems, variable gain control, and matching of signal-path resistances.

Featuring eight digitally-controlled potentiometers in one compact package, the DS3930E+ is a space-saving component that provides significant flexibility and functionality. Each potentiometer has 256 positions, allowing for fine-grained control over resistance settings. The resistance range of each potentiometer is 10kΩ, which can be adjusted via a 3-wire serial interface.

One of the key features of the DS3930E+ is its nonvolatile memory, which ensures that resistance settings are preserved even when the power is removed. This is particularly useful in applications where it is essential to maintain system calibration between power cycles. The nonvolatile memory also simplifies the design by eliminating the need for external memory components.

The device operates over a wide voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, making it suitable for both 3V and 5V systems. It also boasts a low temperature coefficient of 35ppm/°C, ensuring stable performance over a broad temperature range.

The DS3930E+ is equipped with robust integrated features such as wiper resistance of 70Ω typical at 5V, which contributes to its precise operation. Additionally, the device includes an internal power-on reset circuit, which sets the wipers to the midscale position (128th position) upon power-up, providing a predictable startup state.

Designed with reliability in mind, the DS3930E+ is available in a 20-pin TSSOP package, which is both durable and suitable for automated assembly processes.
