Product Description
The MC14029BCPG is a binary up/down counter constructed with MOS P-channel and N-channel enhancement mode devices in a monolithic structure. This counter is composed of four master-slave flip-flops internally connected to provide a divide-by-two section and a divide-by-eight section. These sections can be used individually or in conjunction as a divide-by-sixteen section.
The up/down counting functionality of the MC14029BCPG allows for flexible counting sequences and is controlled by two inputs named UP and DOWN. When the UP input is held high and the DOWN input is held low, the counter counts up. Conversely, when the UP input is low and the DOWN input is high, the counter counts down. Both inputs held high or low will inhibit counting.
Additional features include a master reset input that overrides all other inputs and forces the outputs LOW, and an output control input that can gate the outputs to either the Q outputs or the Q outputs on the last count pulse. The device is housed in a 16-pin DIP package, making it easy to integrate into a variety of circuit boards.
With its wide operating voltage range and temperature specifications, the MC14029BCPG is suitable for use in harsh environments and is a reliable choice for designers looking to implement a binary counter into their systems.
