Maxim Integrated MAX707EPA Microprocessor Supervisory Circuit

The Maxim Integrated MAX707EPA is a highly reliable microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed to monitor power supplies in µP and digital systems. It provides maximum protection for your electronic applications by ensuring that the µP starts up in a known state and operates correctly. This supervisory circuit is an essential component for managing system integrity and preventing data corruption during power-up, brownout conditions, and power-down events.

The MAX707EPA offers a combination of features that make it a versatile choice for a variety of applications. It includes a reset output during power-up, power-down, and brownout conditions. The reset signal is guaranteed to be in the correct state for V_CC down to 1V. Additionally, the device provides a 200ms reset pulse width, which ensures that the system microprocessor has sufficient time to initialize and stabilize before normal operation commences.

This supervisory circuit also comes with a manual reset feature that allows the user to initiate a system reset. A watchdog timer is integrated to monitor the system operation and initiate a system reset if necessary, ensuring that the system does not hang due to a software or hardware fault. The MAX707EPA has a low power consumption, making it suitable for power-sensitive applications.

With its wide operating voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, the MAX707EPA is flexible enough to be used in various standard 5V digital systems.
