Description

The TLC555QD from Texas Instruments is a highly versatile timer integrated circuit (IC) based on the LinCMOS™ process, which ensures low power consumption and robust performance. This IC is a monolithic timing circuit that can produce accurate and highly stable time delays or oscillation. In the time-delay or mono-stable mode of operation, the timed interval is controlled by a single external resistor and capacitor network. In the astable mode, the frequency and duty cycle can be controlled independently with two external resistors and a single external capacitor.

The TLC555QD is a significant improvement over standard 555 timers in that it is capable of operating at supply voltages ranging from 2V to 15V while maintaining supply current at a low level. This can be particularly advantageous in battery-powered applications where extended life is desired. The device can source or sink currents up to 200mA, and its output is fully compatible with CMOS, TTL, and MOS logic.

Featuring a high output current capability, this timer IC can drive loads with a high degree of efficiency.
