  • Feature: includes a capacitive voltage generator to supply TIA/EIA-232-F voltage levels from a single 5-V supply. Each receiver converts TIA/EIA-232-F inputs to 5-V TTL/CMOS levels. These receivers have a typical threshold of 1.3 V, a typical hysteresis of 0.5 V, and can accept ±30-V inputs.
  • Design: designed to enable a minimized count of components, thus facilitating a more compact design space. It features two drivers and two receivers. The drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state.
  • Characterized operation: characterized for operation from 0°C to 70°C and operates from a single 5-V power supply.
  • Feature: devices are fully specified for partial-power-down applications using Ioff. The Ioff circuitry disables the outputs, preventing damaging current backflow through the device when it is powered down.
  • Feature: features an automatic power-down function that saves power when not in use. When an attached peripheral device is shut off or the RS-232 cable is disconnected, the device automatically senses the power loss and shuts down.
  • Package: packaged in a TSSOP-16 package.
  • Operational temperature range: 0 to 70 degrees Celsius
  • Applications: ideal for a wide range of uses. It is perfect for RS-232 communications, cellular telephones, PDAs, notebooks, laptops, and handheld, portable equipment. It is also suitable for battery-powered systems, modems, and interface translation.
