The 74HC86A is a quad 2-input exclusive OR gate that provides the Boolean function Y = A ⊕ B in positive logic. A high output (1) results only when the inputs to the gate are at different levels. If both inputs are high or both are low, the output is low (0). This makes the 74HC86A ideal for parity generation and checking, as well as for applications where signal inversion is necessary.
