The device offers a significant speed improvement compared to older TTL logic families while maintaining low power consumption. The input and output characteristics make it suitable for mixed-voltage systems, where both 3.3 V and 5 V logic levels are present. The wide operating voltage range (2.0 to 3.6 V) provides flexibility in various applications.

This octal D-type flip-flop is available in a thin shrink small outline package (TSSOP), which is suitable for high-density board assembly. Its high output drive capability enables it to drive heavily loaded buses and transmission lines.
