The MAX705ESA+T/CSA is a compact, highly efficient microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed by Maxim Integrated to monitor power supplies in µP and digital systems. It provides excellent circuit reliability and low cost by eliminating external components and adjustments when used in system monitoring applications. This device is particularly well-suited for use in portable equipment, computers, controllers, and intelligent instruments where space is at a premium.

With its ability to significantly improve system reliability, the MAX705ESA+T/CSA supervisory circuit offers a range of features that are critical for ensuring the proper operation of microprocessor systems. It generates a reset signal whenever the VCC supply voltage declines below a preset threshold, maintaining it until VCC has returned to an acceptable level and a stable period (typically 140ms) has passed. This reset signal ensures that the µP starts up in a known state, preventing code execution errors due to low voltage conditions.

The MAX705ESA+T/CSA comes in a compact 8-pin SO package, which is ideal for space-constrained applications. It includes a debounced manual reset input, allowing for a manual override of the automatic reset signal, providing additional flexibility and control for system designers and operators. Furthermore, the device features a watchdog timer that monitors the µP, ensuring it operates correctly. If the µP fails to toggle the watchdog input within a preset timeout period, the MAX705ESA+T/CSA will issue a system reset, thereby serving as an added layer of protection against system failure.
