Maxim Integrated MAX491ESD+T Low-Power, Slew-Rate-Limited RS-485/RS-422 Transceivers

The Maxim Integrated MAX491ESD+T transceiver is designed to provide reliable communication for RS-485 and RS-422 data networks. This integrated circuit is specifically engineered to operate in environments where low power consumption and electromagnetic interference (EMI) are of concern. The device features a slew-rate-limited driver which minimizes EMI and reduces reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, making it ideal for long-distance data transmission in industrial applications.

The transceiver operates from a single 5V supply and has a fully compliant EIA/TIA-485 communication standard. It is capable of differential communication on bus networks of up to 32 devices over a maximum cable length of 4000 feet (approximately 1200 meters).
