The MAX206EEAG-T is a high-performance, low-power, serially interfaced transceiver module from Maxim Integrated that is designed to meet the rigorous demands of EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications, even at a low power supply of 3.0V to 5.5V. This makes it an ideal solution for applications where power efficiency and reliable data transmission are critical.

This transceiver features a unique AutoShutdown Plus™ mode which further reduces power consumption by entering a low-power shutdown state when the RS-232 cable is disconnected or the transmitters of the connected peripherals are off. This innovative feature ensures that the MAX206EEAG-T is exceptionally well-suited for battery-powered devices such as laptops, PDAs, and other portable communication devices where extending battery life is of paramount importance.

The MAX206EEAG-T is equipped with two drivers and two receivers, providing the necessary interface for full-duplex communication. The device also features a 1µA low-current shutdown mode, which significantly reduces power consumption when the device is not in active use. Additionally, the transceiver's receivers can remain active in shutdown mode, allowing for the monitoring of external devices while conserving power.

The robust design of the MAX206EEAG-T ensures that it can withstand ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) hits, thus offering enhanced protection for sensitive electronic equipment. Its latch-up performance exceeds 100mA per JESD 78, Class II, providing additional reliability under extreme conditions.
