The DS1982 1K Add-Only iButton is a rugged data carrier that serves as a read/write nonvolatile memory. Data is transferred serially through the 1-Wire protocol, which requires only a single data lead and a ground return for communication. The DS1982 contains a unique 64-bit ROM registration number that ensures absolute traceability. Because each DS1982 is factory lasered with a guaranteed unique 64-bit registration number, multiple devices can reside on the same 1-Wire bus and be individually distinguished.
Applications:
- Asset tracking
- Electronic cash handles
- Access control
- Work-in-progress tracking
- Tool management
Features:
- 1024 bits of add-only EEPROM memory partitioned into four 256-bit pages
- Built-in multidrop controller for single-point control of multiple devices
- Unique, factory-lasered and tested 64-bit registration number (8-bit family code + 48-bit serial number + 8-bit CRC tester) assures absolute traceability because no two parts are alike
- Low-cost electronic key for access control
- Button-shaped package is rugged enough to withstand harsh environments
- Communicates to host with a single digital signal at 14.2kbps using 1-Wire protocol
- Operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C
Benefits:
- Provides secure, read/write nonvolatile memory for various applications.
- Enables easy identification and tracking of assets.
- Simplifies system design with its single-wire communication interface.
- Offers a robust and durable solution for harsh operating environments.
The device derives its power from the 1-Wire communication line; therefore, no external power supply is needed. The DS1982's EEPROM memory is written block by block in write-once mode. An attempted write to an already programmed block has no effect. The 64-bit registration number is an important feature that guarantees that each device is unique and traceable.
