The SN74HC373NSRG4 is a high-performance, octal transparent D-type latch designed and manufactured by Texas Instruments, a leader in semiconductor solutions. This integrated circuit is part of the 'HC' family, which signifies the use of silicon-gate CMOS technology to achieve operating speeds similar to LSTTL parts while maintaining the low power consumption characteristic of CMOS integrated circuits.

With its robust latch function, the SN74HC373NSRG4 is ideal for temporary storage of data and can be used to interface buses or as buffer memory. Each latch has a 3-state output that can either be in a high, low, or high-impedance state, which is crucial for bus-oriented applications. The device features eight latches with three-state outputs for bus-organized systems applications.

The transparent latch of the SN74HC373NSRG4 is designed such that when the latch-enable (LE) input is high, the Q outputs follow the data (D) inputs. However, when LE is taken low, the Q outputs are latched at the levels set up at the D inputs. This functionality is complemented by an additional feature: a clear (CLR) input that, when taken low, sets all outputs to a low level regardless of the other inputs.

The SN74HC373NSRG4 operates over a broad voltage range of 2V to 6V and provides the feature of balanced propagation delay and transition times. This ensures reliable and predictable performance across the full range of operating conditions. Additionally, it is compatible with TTL levels, which allows for easy interfacing with older technologies.
