NXP 74HC4051PWR Multiplexer/Demultiplexer
The NXP 74HC4051PWR is a high-performance, single-pole octal-throw analog switch (SP8T) suitable for use in analog or digital 8:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. The device features low ON impedance and very low OFF leakage current. Control of analog signals up to 15Vp-p can be achieved by digital signal amplitudes of 3-15V. For applications requiring bidirectional operation, the 74HC4051 can handle both analog and digital signals, and signals can flow in both directions through its switches.
Manufactured with silicon gate CMOS technology, the 74HC4051PWR ensures high-speed operation while maintaining the CMOS low power dissipation. Its robust design allows it to operate over a broad voltage range of 2V to 10V while providing a break-before-make switching action. This feature prevents momentary shorting when switching between channels.
This versatile device is encapsulated in a TSSOP-16 (Thin Shrink Small Outline Package) which is suitable for a wide range of applications including industrial, consumer, and communication systems. The 74HC4051PWR comes with multiple features including:
- 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer
- Low ON resistance: 70 Ω (typical) at VCC - VEE = 4.5V
- Low crosstalk between switches
- Low OFF leakage current
- Wide operating voltage range: 2V to 10V
- ESD protection: HBM JESD22-A114E exceeds 2000V
- Latch-up performance exceeds 100mA per JESD 78, Class II
- Compliant to RoHS directive 2011/65/EU and in accordance with WEEE 2002/96/EC
The 74HC4051PWR is designed for multiplexing and demultiplexing of digital or analog signals. It is also suitable for signal gating, chopping, modulation or demodulation (modem), and signal multiplexing for analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion systems. With its wide array of uses and high durability, the NXP 74HC4051PWR is a versatile component ideal for sophisticated electronic systems requiring reliable and consistent performance.
