Maxim Integrated's MAX708CUA+T Microprocessor Supervisory Circuit

The MAX708CUA+T from Maxim Integrated is a compact, highly-reliable microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed to monitor power supplies and microprocessor activity in digital systems. It provides excellent circuit reliability and low cost by eliminating external components and adjustments when used in battery-powered applications, such as computers, controllers, and intelligent instruments.

This supervisory circuit ensures that the µP is reset to a known state during power-up, power-down, or brown-out conditions. The MAX708CUA+T features a combination of functions such as reset output during power-up, power-down, and brown-out conditions, a 1.25V threshold detector for power-fail warning, low-battery detection, or for monitoring a power supply other than +5V, and a manual reset input.

The device comes in an 8-pin µMAX package and is characterized for operation over the full industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Its small size and high level of integration make it ideal for use in portable and space-constrained applications. The MAX708CUA+T is also available in a lead(Pb)-free/RoHS-compliant package, ensuring that it meets modern environmental standards for electronic components.
