The MAX561CAI from Maxim Integrated is a state-of-the-art, quad 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed to deliver precision voltage outputs in a compact 28-pin SSOP package. This high-performance DAC is ideal for applications requiring multiple precision voltage outputs with minimal board space, such as industrial control systems, automatic test equipment, and data acquisition systems.

Featuring a robust serial interface, the MAX561CAI simplifies the communication with microcontrollers or digital signal processors, allowing for easy integration into a variety of digital systems. The serial interface operates on a flexible supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V, making it compatible with both 3V and 5V logic families.

Each of the four DACs within the MAX561CAI can be individually programmed with 12-bit resolution, ensuring high precision and fine control over the output voltages. The device also features a double-buffered input structure, which allows for simultaneous updating of all DACs, or individual updating if desired. This reference voltage is stable over time and temperature variations, which contributes to the overall reliability and accuracy of the DAC outputs. Additionally, the device includes a power-on reset circuit that ensures the DAC outputs power up to zero volts and remain there until a valid write to the device takes place.

The MAX561CAI operates over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. Its power-saving features include a low-power shutdown mode that reduces the supply current to just 1µA, providing an excellent solution for power-sensitive applications.
