The Maxim Integrated DS1818R-5-U+ is a compact, highly efficient microprocessor supervisory circuit designed to monitor the power supplies in microprocessor and digital systems. It provides a precise way to manage power-on reset and power-fail warning functions within computers, controllers, intelligent instruments, and critical microprocessor systems. This device ensures that your system's microprocessor can operate reliably over its intended voltage range.

The DS1818R-5-U+ is tailored to maintain system integrity by asserting a reset signal whenever the VCC supply voltage declines below a preset threshold, 4.63V for the DS1818-5 version. This active-low reset signal remains asserted until VCC rises above the reset threshold and for a minimum of 150ms after VCC has risen above the reset threshold, ensuring a proper system reset. The reset threshold accuracy is maintained over the full temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).

This micro-monitor chip features a debounced manual reset input which allows the use of an external switch or an input from a microprocessor to trigger a system reset. Additionally, the DS1818 provides an active-low, open-drain reset output, which gives it the flexibility to interface with a variety of microprocessors and other digital logic.

With its low supply current of 12µA (typical), the DS1818R-5-U+ is an energy-efficient solution for portable and battery-powered applications. The device is available in a small, 3-pin SOT-23 package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications where board real estate is at a premium.
