A clear (CLR) input is provided for all latches. When CLR is taken low, all Q outputs are set low, regardless of the other inputs. The tri-state outputs, which feature a 24-mA sink and source capability, are controlled by the output-enable (OE) input. When OE is low, the outputs are in the normal operating mode. However, when OE is high, the outputs are in a high-impedance state, which is particularly useful for interfacing with bus-oriented systems.
