Maxim Integrated MAX3380EEUP+ RS-232 Transceiver

The Maxim Integrated MAX3380EEUP+ is a high-performance RS-232 transceiver chip designed to interface between TTL or CMOS logic levels and RS-232 communication protocol. This compact and efficient transceiver is ideal for applications that require reliable data transmission with minimal power consumption.

Encased in a space-saving 20-pin TSSOP package, the MAX3380EEUP+ operates from a single +3.0V to +5.5V power supply, making it versatile for both portable and stationary applications. It features a proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage, providing true RS-232 performance from a 3.0V to 5.5V supply with a dual charge pump. This allows the device to deliver compliant RS-232 output levels even at lower supply voltages.

The device is capable of running at data rates up to 250kbps, making it suitable for a variety of high-speed serial communication tasks. Furthermore, the MAX3380EEUP+ ensures robust communication with enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection exceeding ±15kV using the Human Body Model (HBM), ensuring the longevity and reliability of your application in harsh environments.

One of the key features of the MAX3380EEUP+ is its low-power shutdown mode, which reduces the power consumption to a mere 1µA, further extending the battery life of portable devices. The transceiver also includes two receivers and two drivers, offering a flexible interface for full-duplex communication.
