Description

Maxim Integrated DS28E25P+ Secure Authenticator

The Maxim Integrated DS28E25P+ is a robust secure authenticator that provides a core set of cryptographic tools derived from integrated asymmetric (ECC-P256) and symmetric (SHA-256) security. Designed to ensure the authenticity and integrity of products, this compact and efficient device is ideal for protecting your intellectual property and preventing counterfeiting across a wide range of applications, including medical devices, IoT nodes, and consumer products.

Featuring Maxim's patented ChipDNA™ technology, the DS28E25P+ offers a tamper-evident, non-reversible physically unclonable function (PUF) that provides a strong defense against invasive attacks. The PUF circuit generates a unique output that is used to create cryptographic keys, and since the output is not predictable, it cannot be duplicated, even by the manufacturer, ensuring a high level of security.

The device operates over the standard 1-Wire® interface, which simplifies connectivity by using only a single pin for both communication and power, alongside an additional ground pin. This simplifies the design and reduces the overall footprint of the device in space-constrained applications. The DS28E25P+ is also equipped with a 2Kb user-programmable EEPROM, allowing for the storage of data such as device IDs, calibration constants, or application-specific information.

With its built-in secure hash algorithm (SHA-256), the DS28E25P+ can be used for challenge-and-response authentication, providing a high level of security and peace of mind for both manufacturers and end-users. The device's cryptographic engine also supports ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) to provide strong, asymmetric authentication and to ensure the integrity of data exchanged between the host and the device.

The DS28E25P+ is available in a compact, 6-pin TSOC package, making it suitable for applications where space is at a premium. Its wide operating range of -40°C to +85°C ensures reliable operation across diverse environments and applications. By integrating the DS28E25P+ into your product design, you can effectively safeguard your products against unauthorized usage and cloning, thus protecting your brand and revenue streams.
