Description

The STWBC from STMicroelectronics is an advanced wireless power controller integrated circuit designed for the efficient implementation of Wireless Charging solutions. This high-performance IC caters to the growing demand for convenient and reliable wireless charging in a wide array of consumer electronics, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, and other battery-powered devices.

Featuring compatibility with the Qi wireless charging standard set by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the STWBC ensures interoperability with a vast range of Qi-compliant charging stations and devices. It supports both Extended Power Profile (EPP) for fast charging and Baseline Power Profile (BPP) for standard applications, delivering up to 15W of power for rapid charging capabilities.

The STWBC boasts an efficient full-bridge or half-bridge inverter, capable of driving the power transfer with low-losses and high efficiency. It is designed with digital control optimization, which allows for precise control of the power transfer process, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The controller also includes an embedded 32-bit ARM Cortex microcontroller that provides flexibility in firmware development, allowing for customization and updates to meet specific product requirements.

Built-in Foreign Object Detection (FOD) is another key feature of the STWBC, enhancing user safety by preventing power transfer when metal objects are detected between the charger and the device. Moreover, the IC incorporates multiple protection features such as over-temperature, over-voltage, and over-current protection, which contribute to the overall robustness and reliability of the charging solution.

The STWBC is available in a compact QFN package, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. Its integration with the ST ecosystem, including development tools and software libraries, facilitates rapid development and deployment of wireless charging systems. With the STWBC, manufacturers can deliver cutting-edge wireless charging experiences that combine convenience, efficiency, and safety.
