The MAX706REUA+T from Maxim Integrated is a compact, highly reliable microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed to monitor power supplies in µP and digital systems. It provides excellent circuit reliability and low cost by eliminating external components and adjustments when used with 5V-powered circuits.

This supervisory circuit significantly improves system reliability by monitoring the power supply voltage and ensuring that the system microprocessor always starts up in a known state. It features a reset output during power-up, power-down, and brownout conditions. The reset signal remains asserted for a minimum of 140ms after VCC has risen above the reset threshold level, ensuring the system has sufficient time to stabilize and preventing the µP from starting its execution in an unknown state.

The MAX706REUA+T comes in a small 8-pin µMAX package, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. Its key features include a 4.65V threshold voltage for detecting out-of-tolerance power supply conditions and an active-low RESET output that is guaranteed to remain in the logic low state with VCC as low as 1.2V. This ensures that the µP reset input starts in the correct state, and the µP starts up correctly in the event of a low VCC condition.

Additionally, this supervisory circuit offers a manual reset feature, allowing the system to be reset with a push of a button or through software control. This manual reset input is debounced and accepts a variety of slow or bouncing inputs, ensuring reliable operation.
