The MAX1232EWE+ from Maxim Integrated is a sophisticated microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit designed to monitor power supplies and µP activity in digital systems. If the µP fails to clear the watchdog timer within 1.6 seconds, the device assumes that the µP is not functioning correctly and issues a reset signal to restart the system.
The MAX1232EWE+ also features a manual reset input that allows for an external pushbutton or logic signal to initiate a system reset. This provides a convenient way for users to manually reset the system without cycling the power.
