The SIOV-Q20K275 varistor is constructed from a zinc oxide (ZnO) ceramic material. Its resistance is high under normal operating conditions, but when a transient overvoltage occurs, the resistance rapidly decreases, diverting the surge current away from sensitive components. After the surge subsides, the varistor returns to its high-resistance state.
