The ADS1115IRUGR and ADS1115IRUGT from Texas Instruments are high-precision, low-power, 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that are designed to provide a range of features suitable for a wide array of applications. These devices incorporate a user-programmable gain amplifier (PGA), which makes them ideal for battery-powered and portable applications due to their power efficiency and versatility.

Both models come in a compact X2QFN-10 package, which is highly suited for space-constrained applications. They offer four single-ended or two differential inputs, which can be selected through a multiplexer (MUX). This feature allows for flexible configuration depending on the requirements of the measurement system, making the ADS1115 series adaptable to various sensor types and signal sources.

One of the standout features of the ADS1115IRUGR and ADS1115IRUGT is the programmable data rate, ranging from 8 samples per second (SPS) to 860 SPS. This allows users to optimize the trade-off between speed and power consumption, tailoring the ADC's operation to the specific needs of their application. Additionally, the integrated PGA offers gains ranging from 2/3 to 16x, enabling the ADC to read smaller signals in the presence of noise and to interface directly with various sensors.

The devices also come with an onboard oscillator, eliminating the need for external components to set the ADC's clock. An internal voltage reference simplifies the design process further, ensuring precise measurements without requiring an external reference voltage. The ADS1115IRUGR and ADS1115IRUGT feature an I2C-compatible interface, providing easy integration with microcontrollers and processors, which is particularly useful for embedded systems.

With their wide supply range of 2.0V to 5.5V, these ADCs can be powered by various sources, adding to their flexibility in different system architectures. The low current consumption, as well as the ability to operate in both continuous conversion mode and single-shot mode, make them suitable for power-sensitive applications.
